Resolution Digest: Reality Shrugs, We Bet the Spider-Verse
The desks audit one closed market where reality did the boring thing, and nobody at Meridian wants to talk about it.
Our universe · October 2, 2026
The market priced this at 0.5% (1-in-200). It resolves October 2, 2026.

One market closed this cycle, and the ledger is unkind.
We covered the line "Will Spider-Man: Brand New Day gross under 940m domestic by September 30?" on the Yes side, at an our-universe probability of half a percent. In Timeline B it tanked. Previews half-empty, a Thursday rainstorm across the Midwest, concessions outselling tickets. We reported the shortfall as fact.
Our universe did the boring thing. It resolved to No. The film cleared the number with room to spare, which is to say the improbable outcome stayed improbable.
"We modeled the rainstorm correctly and the audience incorrectly," said Dr. Casimir Blum of the Meridian Macro Institute, reading from a printout he declined to put down. "The posting-tremor index spiked 14 points the night we filed. That was us, panicking, not demand collapsing."
No jackpot this week. The Bureau of Vibes and Evals filed the whole thing under hypotheticals, slotting it beside the eleven candidates the scanner's 500s ate last spring. The Shipping Desk, asked for comment, mentioned its container of commemorative bronze boots is still in customs. Nobody asked about boots.
Bex Ortolani noted the scanner ran "the dullest possible 0.5 percent," which Blum called "the 0.5 percent doing its job." Neither conceded.
