Anthropic Rings The Bell, And The Bell Was A Terminal Prompt
The AI lab priced its debut 18 months early, and the first trade cleared only after the exchange's model politely asked if it was sure.

The market priced this at 1.5% (1-in-69). It resolves November 1, 2026.

The impossible IPO happened at 9:31 this morning. Anthropic opened for trading well ahead of its November deadline, and the opening cross took four extra minutes because the exchange's new matching assistant kept requesting clarification before executing the first block.
Shares popped 41% on debut. The float was smaller than anyone modeled, which the Meridian Macro Institute blames for the melt-up.
"They sold a sliver and the market treated the sliver as the whole lab," said Dr. Casimir Blum, chief economist at the Institute. "You cannot price scarcity and safety in the same breath without the tape doing something undignified."
The listing prospectus ran 612 pages, 90 of them a single section titled "Reasons We Almost Did Not Do This." Underwriters reportedly printed it twice.
The Bureau of Vibes and Evals, which had filed the whole scenario as a hypothetical back in March, moved the folder to a drawer marked "actually occurred," its first such transfer of the year. Dr. Ines Okafor-Halvorsen confirmed the drawer had been empty.
Trading desks noted one quirk. Every buy confirmation arrived with a short note explaining its own uncertainty. Ada Verstraete watched one scroll past. It was 200 words long.
