Richmond went into Raleigh a 2.5% afterthought and left with a 24-21 win nobody priced. The mechanism was small and stupid and beautiful. NC State lined up for a 41-yard field goal to send it to overtime with four seconds left, and Richmond backup nose tackle Dane Ottmarsh, in on the field-goal block unit for the first time all season, got a hand up and tipped it wide.

"We had that block rated at a 0.9% conversion," said Priya Okonkwo-Vance of the Institute of Applied Finishing. "The model does not have a column for a walk-on standing three inches taller than his listed height. We have frozen it. Again."

The freeze is now cumulative with the four before it. Vance said the xG-style rebuild would take through Tuesday, longer if anyone finds more tape of Ottmarsh jumping.

Down on the field a Richmond assistant sprinted the wrong way twice, arms out, before a security volunteer in a yellow windbreaker gently redirected him toward his own bench. The visiting section, maybe two hundred people, refused to leave for forty minutes.

Meridian Macro's Dr. Casimir Blum noted the campus futures book had Richmond so far out that the winning tickets outpaid a small MrBeast prop in the same issue. "Rare," he said. "Boring band, interrupted."
