ETH Clears $2,520 and the Whole Desk Has to Recalibrate
A 2% tail print at $2,547 on the 5pm tape sent the ETH-vol book, staking rebates and one very confident macro forecast into open revision.

The market priced this at 2% (1-in-50). It resolves September 1, 2026.

The screens went green at 5:00pm EDT sharp. Ether tagged $2,547 on the September 1 resolution tape, clearing the $2,520 line the book had priced at 2%, and the Markets Desk spent the next hour marking books nobody expected to touch.
The mechanism was dull and enormous. A staking-rebate contract at Halcyon Compute auto-rolled 411,000 ETH at the print, and the forced bid dragged the front-month future 3.8% higher into a market that had shorted the tail all summer. ETHVOL-30 jumped from 61 to 74. Gas spiked to 88 gwei for nine minutes.
"We had this filed as a hypothetical," said Dr. Casimir Blum of the Meridian Macro Institute, reading from a note he had drafted for the outcome that did not happen. "The boring band was $1,900 to $2,300. The boring band was wrong, which is rare, and I am writing that down."
It rippled sideways. With the Fed upper bound holding above 4.00% into the September 16 meeting, desks had assumed dollar strength would cap crypto. It did not. The Shipping Desk noted its customs container of commemorative bronze boots is still stuck, unmoved by any of this.
Closing level: $2,533.
